Where to Splurge - Investing in your Design

Jumping off of our last post, we wanted to touch on the details of a home that we typically recommend spending that extra money to ultimately save money and headaches long term. When remodeling or a building a home, you are investing. What we are going to share are not by any means necessities to get the home of your dreams, but it's definitely worth it to invest in durable and reliable materials/products for details.

Kitchen Cabinetry

Contrary to some people's popular belief, we usually always recommend going higher quality on kitchen cabinetry. Yes, there are products out there that look nice and get you a bang for your buck - BUT are they going to last you as long as you need them to? When you get into higher quality cabinetry there are also many more options for customization.

It's always important regardless to get multiple bids when quoting any aspect of your project. With that being said, it's also important to consider the details and options that are getting quoted.

If you have the budget for it, splurging on appliances can really be worth the cost. Cheaper appliances can get the job done, but high-end appliances will deliver more consistent results and can save you money over time since they are more energy efficient (cheaper gas and electric bills). If you like to cook and bake often, splurging on a quality range that you use everyday is totally worth it.

Countertops

Whether you're chopping, mixing, or blending, kitchen countertops take a heavy beating on a daily basis. Countertops are the number one thing that people splurge on in kitchen remodels, according to a 2018 Kitchen Trends study by Houzz, and we can see why. They can dramatically change the look and feel of a space. Engineered quartz is now the most popular countertop material - remember how we mentioned it as one our favorite materials in the last blog post?

Ultimately, what you decide to splurge on depends on what makes the most sense for you and your family.
